I was working on a (too) long entry about Ron Paul and why he makes me nervous, partially as a "where I've gone politically" entry, but also as an excuse to link to Chris's case for him relative to the other Republican candidates, "Why Ron Paul should be the Republican nominee, even though his
abortion views suck", but I don't know if I'm going to get that into a coherent weblog sized bite any time soon. At any rate, I agree that I'd rather see Ron Paul as a viable Republican presidential candidate over any of the other possibilities on that end.
Meanwhile, someone from Ron Paul's campaign has emailed me looking for volunteers to do techie stuff. So if you're inclined that way and have some time, give me a holler and I'll get you in touch.

Thanks, Dan! BTW, I hope you post your "where I've gone politically" entry eventually--I'd love to read it.

And, because I think there were some good notes in this, give a listen to Daniel Schorr: "Must Free Elections Bring Violence?", in which he points out that both Mitt Romney and Barack Obama favor "stable institutions" over any sort of progression towards more free societies. Oddly, the version I'm listening to there seems subtly different from what I thought I heard on the radio last night, but it's sure sounding to me that rather than taking the third way out, we're going from, in the words of that old Tom Lehrer song, "...until someone we like can be elected..." back to "prop up the baddest-ass dictator".

Volunteering for Ron Paul? I'm definitely interested. Any details to pass along?
