Knowing that it was going to be hot this afternoon, I snuck out this morning and worked a little compost into one of the flower beds and finished up the rails on the front door entrance. I'm kinda proud of the latter.

Yeah, that door is really hot. I can't let my wife see it, or I would have another project on my todo list. She is already thinking of a new door because last week we had a very large cinnamon bear, over 400lbs, on our porch. It is a shock to turn on the outside lights at 3am, and see an enormous bear four feet away. Our doors are all glass, and it could have come through without effort. Though a bear that size would come through just about anything.

This is definitely an issue of regional fauna: If we saw a 400 lb bear on our front porch at 3AM, we'd offer a beer and directions to Guerneville (for instance).
