From my first 6 months in the Netherlands, it seems that one-way indications to cyclists are merely suggestions. Plenty of people disobey them, sometimes even in places where the bike lane is quite narrow.

Yeah, but if a cyclist goes the wrong way down a narrow street and gets squished by a truck in the Netherlands, is the truck driver at fault?

Boulder has a few contraflow bikeways - the most used is on 13th street. The markings are especially clear there.

You mean there are places where cyclists actually obey the rules of the road? I don't believe it! Here in Chicago they are apparently honor bound to go through red lights and stop signs.
