Per Mark's request, a chance to check in on riding. I haven't been doing much of late, I take the bike to the story occasionally, and try to walk the hills in my neighborhood a couple of times a day. Hope to clock in 80-100 miles on Friday, if I can drag a friend out, but the weekends have largely been devoted to physical labor around the house.

I was toying with the idea of getting in 200 miles a week. I can do it if I can manage 30 miles a day. Like you, Dan, I spend weekends working on projects or with the family -- so getting a full day off has to be planned in advance.
I did (just under) 30 on Saturday and repeated the route yesterday and today. I'm taking a break tomorrow, so unless I somehow manage to get an extra 20 miles on Saturday, I'm not gonna hit 200/wk. 180 might happen, though.
Oh, and the route takes just under 2 hours for me.
Before I upped my milage, I was getting 100/wk. I'm just trying to figure out where I fall in the spectrum of cyclists.
For reference, I knew a semi-pro in NOLA that biked ~17 miles one-way to work.

Wish I were out there. I rode about 100 last week - still trying to get a feel for the new frame. I actually cracked a rim - on a mountain bike nonetheless - on a group ride on Sunday.
Next week, I'll shoot for more. There's a sweet 35 mile ride leaving from my apartment heading up to Jamestown at just over 6900 feet. The ride back is the best part! I'd like to do this three times a week.

Bah, I switched jobs recently and a longer commute means no weekday post-work riding. I'm hoping to get 50 in on the holiday this Friday (which would be a personal longest ride ever), but a good weekend for me is typically the ~25 mile ride from Rockville MD down Rock Creek Park to the vicinity of the National Zoo, and then back -- and that's usually about 1:45 for the round trip.

Eric, 100/wk is awesome. I'm not sure I'll be able to do more than that at this point, but I'm trying.
And while I have some good hills, a climb like that isn't around here.
John, How much riding were you doing on your old job?

Several people (anywhere from 2 to 8, depending) would get out once or twice a week during the warm weather, and do anywhere from 15 to 30 miles. We were in Bethesda, so we'd ride down the Capitol Crescent trail into Georgetown, and sometimes continue on down around Hains Point.
