Anti-news: People barter sex for goods and services:
A recent study of 475 University of Michigan undergraduates ages 17 to 26 found that 27 percent of the men and 14 percent of the women who weren't in a committed relationship had offered someone favors or gifts -- help prepping for a test, laundry washing, tickets to a college football game -- in exchange for sex. On the flip side, 5 percent of the men surveyed and 9 percent of the women said they'd attempted to trade sex for such freebies.
From the SE entry:
As Fleshbot says: its called dating.
Update: that Fleshbot entry.

Dating?!? Marriage. Marketing. Product design. Food. Clothing, Shelter. Fire.
It's all got sex attached to it somehow, blatantly or implied.
But at the most basic level what they are really doing is: bartering sex for sex. Both people get what they really want. Sex. Getting some laundry done or a car fixed is just a bonus. Rationalization.

At some point Dan linked to some stuff about prostitutes and their opinions about work and such. The words of the hookers piqued my interest and somewhere in reading about that topic I recall something a hooker said.... something like..... You give up your sunshine to buy what you want; I give up my moonlight to buy what I want.
It's heartening the young'uns aren't stained with too many taboos about sex unlike most of my generation raised in the south.
