Two thoughts for the evening:

  1. The nice thing about the lesson being repeated until the student learns is that you don't have to pay attention the first few times.
  2. Tonight's contribution towards making my Yuletide gay: Elton John Christmas songs.

Is the "nice thing" for the student or the instructor?

The particular instance of this was me doing something stupid in the kitchen, so the universe was the instructor, and I don't think physics particularly cared whether I'd been paying attention.
