I'd appreciate it if anyone with a second set of eyes and a little JavaScript experience can tell me why the Google Map embedded in http://www.flutterby.net/Petaluma isn't displaying the GeoRSS feed layer. Thanks.

I can't see anything. You are proxy'ing the RSS locally. That's the most common problem with RSS. I haven't played with Google Maps enough to be much help.

I'll see about hacking in an OpenLayers replacement in my markup language soon, just haven't gotten there yet and haven't needed the alternate layers yet.
