Frank Paynter abandons Twitter, following Bill Meloney: Im going back to IRC
See you there. I'm not quite ready to give up on Twitter, and IRC has its own shortcomings, but the points are all valid.

As soon as I posted that I rushed right over to twitter to announce that it had been posted. The whole social networking phenomenon has its uses, but I find it also a distraction that detracts from the warm fuzziness of friendly interactions with real people. In fact, instead of "twitter" I think they should call it "cyber-crack."

abandoning twitter is like abandoning the telephone in the last part of the 1800's. "i don't get the telephone, so i'm going back to smoke signals"

I think it's like abandoning Chevy in the 1970s...
