As if that weren't enough, HFCS causes more weight gain (at least in mail rats) than the same calories with sucrose.

really? Then that should make you question the Doctor's motive in prescribing the crap. There are many proven ways to reduce cholesterol besides statins, and with no undesirable side effects. And: "It's amazing that the day before the health care "reform" bill is passed in America, the FDA announces that one of the most popular statin drugs sold in America causes so much kidney damage that it might kill you."

My father was a Pharmacist and my older brother has a PHD in chemistry and was a high level manager in a drug manufacturing corporation. Sadly, both had the utmost faith in prescription drugs, rather than corrective lifestyle changes. My dad is dead, and my brother has a myriad of problems related to long term prescription drug use. So, you got to watch those corporate assholes, they are peddling poison.

Prescription drugs such as statins also have serious potential to cause liver damage.
There is a reason a prescription is required.

hfcs is just one of a myriad of poisons that are FDA approved. Aspartane, BPA in plastics......the list is staggering. Prescription drugs such as statins also have serious potential to cause liver damage. Our corporate producers of all this toxic crap are sacred cows as far as the regulatory agencies go. Knowledge is power, protect yourselves. The sad truth is that our government has NO interest in seeing anyone survive past the eligibility age at which you would draw Social Security. It is my intention to live forever or die in the attempt

Mexican Coca Cola now uses HFCS in at least a couple of the plants. http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/506511
Read the label carefully.

Bad news for me, although hopefully the non-drinking factor will help make up for the corn syrup that I do consume :)
