I'm interested in learning more about the Luna Road in-road solar powered lights replacement for "Bott's dots" and "cat's eye" reflectors (and some of the technologies that could be enabled by having illumination on the road surface), but boy their web site is Flash based and seems to be intent upon keeping me from learning anything about their product. I got close once, but then hit the back button and got the intro voiceover again.
Must've cost them a pretty penny in studio time, but... yuck.

My first year in Colorado I wondered why I never saw reflective road markers.
When the road gets a 1/2 inch of ice and snow, it's impossible to find the lanes.
Then I realized - the snow plows would just scrape them right off the road.
There's also an odd cost/benefit equation when many roads need to be repaved
every year. Colorado has many very mild days in Winter. That means we get the
freeze/thaw action going on big time. Concrete roads last longer but the size of
the expansion joints make for almost as rough a ride as the regular pot holes in
pavement.
