Just tried to "Like" an entry, and Facebook told me "You are not permitted to do that." And yet, I still like it...

It was a Facebook bug, I think somehow I'd managed to get out of sync on "like" button pushes, and the second one triggered the error.

If it isn't one of facebook's frequent bugs, it's probably someone you've extended a friend invitation to who has just ignored the invitation and not friended you back. At that point, you can see their entries, but can't comment on them or like them.
If they ever respond with "I don't know this person", you'll quit seeing their postings entirely.
