I have a general respect for truck drivers because I know that they're at least 10x more practiced at something I do regularly.
The more I look at trucking, the more I'm fascinated by how much long haul trucking stems from an inability to plan. The notion that a shipper can delay him by 5 hours, but there are inflexibilities later in the schedule that won't adapt to possible other traffic conditions, and the way that network is built to react to such things fascinates me in its inefficiency.

Poor baby. If you don't like the job, or aren't making any money, find something else to do. The only truck drivers I flip off are the ones (vastly increasing in number these days, for some reason) who refuse to move over a lane when I'm trying to enter the freeway.
