Why wireless mesh networks won’t save us from censorship, on the practical difficulties of implementing mesh WiFi, mostly saved here so that I can refer to it in my discussions with the Petaluma Technology Advisory Committee.

Good article. I see little has changed.

Utilities building "smart grid" using relatives of these technologies are figuring out the same thing, specially the ones that built in crowded "unlicensed" 900MHZ and 2.4ghz ranges that are competing with a lot of other signal sources as background noise.

I'd -STILL- like to build a downtown area private mesh network, for fun. Just don't have the time, or neighbors with similar interests.
