If the controls were in my pocket I would have paid a bit more than Harbor Freight prices. And would you trust a remote control from Harbor Freight with human safety?
I could have run the cable back down, but I would have had to get a few extra pulleys and figure out how to keep it out of the way, and then rather than being safely above things when should things go wrong, you'd be in the target zone.

'cause the controls are at the top.
Sounds like a design flaw. I guess it's better than having the controls only at the bottom.

Had nothing whatsoever to do with my fear of unanticipated failure modes. Not. A. Thing.
In other news, where Charlene was standing when she took that video is the closest I'll let anyone be to it on the bottom end when it's operating.

Why did you take the ladder when you could have ridden the lift?

And I got distracted this morning and lifted the rest of the gravel to the top of the building: http://www.flutterby.net/Image...2-05-29GravelOnWorkshopEdges.jpg
Half a yard down, 4 yards (to be delivered tomorrow morning) to go.
