Does anyone have an example of a "mobile optimized" site that's actually better than the regular site on a modern smart phone?

I like Weather Underground's mobile site better for local weather information than their regular site on a phone. Granted, probably because the regular page is really cluttered.
Google's "mobile" gmail app is terrible on both the phone and the pad. It's easy to change back to the desktop version until it gets reset back every two weeks when they make you re-log in.
