I like the idea of doing away with tipping and I don't mind the mandatory service charge, however, I bristle when I see the occasional "Tipping not allowed" sign. "It's my money, I'll tip if I want to tip," is what goes through my mind when I see them. The one restaurant close to me that has those signs is a hybrid walk up/table service affair where tipping probably would only rarely occur without the signs. I figure there is probably enough people like me who won't be told what they can do with their money that the signs actually increase the tipping there.
