WSJ: LinkedIn's Minimum Age Drops to 14 in U.S.. So "like totally making out with some girl" is now going to become a heavily endorsed skill.

I actually get some work/business value out of LinkedIn because it is where the biz-dev, sales and some technical people in the work world put up a facade that is appropriate to the work world, and I get to see that the guy I'm in a conference with tomorrow has a relevant past, or works with a competitor.. I've helped people get jobs via LinkedIn and maybe someday I'll need the same. We can see people we are working with "checking us out" and we do the same.

That value may erode quickly.

Commercial plugs are fine, if they are relevant to the conversation, and if you don't try to pretend to be a consumer. Annoying endorsements will be deleted if you're lucky, if you're not a whole bunch of people smarter and more articulate than you will ridicule you, and we will leave such ridicule in place.
