Well, the Wikipedia page doesn't have a lot of details, but it does state that the electric clipper was patented in 1919, and the package does say "brand."

Yeah, for one thing the Magic Wand has only been around since the 1970s, the Wahl has been around since at least the 1940s:

If you search around, you'll find mechanical, pneumatic, steam and then electrical devices in use before 1900.

And of course.. there was horseback riding.
