Dude started working out at age 87:

"We're told that old age is a continuous state of decline, and that we should stop working, slow down and prepare to die," he wrote on his celebrity Facebook Page. "I disagree."
Retirement is a "health catastrophe," he said. "Work is the most important thing for a healthy old age; number one is work, number two is nutrition and number three is exercise, in that order." (His role model for a working senior? The Queen of England.)

This has been something that has been on my mind a lot lately. I think a big part of it was approaching sixty, which I succeeded in doing a couple of weeks ago. A couple of health problems I've had to deal with lately and the understanding that my genetics will probably lead to a fairly long life span has had me thinking about the shape of my body during my declining years and I've pretty much rejected the idea that those years must be declining. People like Charles Eugster are now my role models. Aging is necessary to avoid death, growing old isn't.
