I finally got sick of the web browser that came with the OmniSky, and tried installing ProxiWeb. Need to use it for a few days to see what all it does, and I haven't yet figured out their revenue model, but my initial impression is "wow, this is actually a product".

Unfortunately, OmniSky doesn't work in Chattanooga. I checked. Granted, I don't need it to help me find anything here. I know pretty where every restaurant and theater is and generally what's playing. But there are times when being able to refer to a web site while having a discussion on a hike...

What's your cell phone coverage like? Given the nice size of those little Motorola TimePorts, a Palm and a custom cable with a straight dial-up account would probably actually be a nicer solution.
