Bush campaign: he's not dyslexic. Given that Gail Sheehy was trying to give GW an "out" by saying this, I guess they're confirming what we thought: He's just dumber 'n a box of rocks.

The biggest problem I see with labeling GW dyslexic is that he flew jet fighters in the military. He also managed to get through Harvard Business School earning an MBA. I'm not saying a dyslexic can't accomplish these two things but a dyslexic that is also "dumber'n a box of rocks" wouldn't have much of a chance at all.

Then just how do you explain GW?
I mean, do you think he got to fly jet fighters and got his MBA because he's a Bush? Do you think the box of rocks could accomplish the same things if it was called a Bush?

Given the number of fighter jocks who've autodarwinated, and the number of MBAs who are simply overeducated con-men, I don't think he needs an explanation.
I do think, from personal experience, that if someone realizes that they're dyslexic or has similar learning disabilities one can build compensation strategies that keep the dyslexia hidden most of the time, but that there are still situations where those disabilities can't be masked.

I'm going to suggest that one of those situations is flying military jets, especially fighters. You don't fly those things VFR and dyslexia is going to pose a major hurdle to flying IFR at those speeds while attempting the maneuvers that a fighter pilot is going to be required to accomplish. Think about it for a minute. How does dyslexia affect hand/eye coordination. How would dyslexia affect completing multiple parrallel task when one or more of those task required fine hand/eye coordination? Being a Bush might have gotten him through college with his degree and being a Bush might have gotten him in line to be considered for a fighter pilot but only abilities are going to put him in the cockpit of a fighter as pilot in command.
As for how do I explain him, well, intelligence and wisdom are two different things. There is also a difference in the types of intelligence. I've known a number of people that were able to excel in academics but were hard pressed to be able to apply what they learned to business. I think Bush is a charmer with the coordination required to fly jets and the tenacity to get through college with an MBA. I think he may be a very good strategist but he falls short as a tactician.
Gore, on the other hand, is strong on tactics but weak on strategy. Other than that the two are very similar. Both are where they are today because of their daddies.
