Modern computing is just trying to keep up with all of the places where people have changed things for bullshit reasons, and fixing the resulting broken processes, until you die.

I think that was related to upgrading my server to the latest LTS, and going through and finding all of the places where defaults had changed so I had to go change /etc files until my code worked.

Which, given that most of that code was written over 20 years ago, I guess isn't too bad.
