Pump-n-dump

2024-12-09 19:12:21.92803+01 by Dan Lyke 7 comments

Today in "I'm not sure how I feel about 'earns' in this context": Teen creates memecoin, dumps it, earns $50,000 — Unsurprisingly, he and his family were doxed by angry traders.

The reason I'm unsure is: It's gotta be pretty hard to find new crypto marks in this environment, right?

Uh, he created multiple memecoins (three according to the story) and dumped them. So apparently it’s not that hard at all.

And two weeks late, he created five more, including one named “dontbuy” and made another $5000 from suckers.

It works correctly, just ellipsises the display part of the link.

Maybe it’s iOS forcing the line-wrap? I do just about everything from an iPad nowadays.

Ugh. At some point I went through and tried to get the right settings for all of the browsers to not insert line breaks, but I could totally believe that mobile Safari fucks everything up.

Yeah, don’t fix it just for me, unless you want to. I already found a workaround (or is it a reacharound?).

(You should probably use "Text" mode: URLs will be mostly recognized and linked, _underscore quoted_ text is looked up in a glossary, _underscore quoted_ (http://xyz.pdq) becomes a link, without the link in the parenthesis it becomes a <cite> tag. All <cite>ed text will point to the Flutterby knowledge base. Two enters (ie: a blank line) gets you a new paragraph, special treatment for paragraphs that are manually indented or start with "#" (as in "#include" or "#!/usr/bin/perl"), "/* " or ">" (as in a quoted message) or look like lists, or within a paragraph you can use a number of HTML tags:
