This sucks. Sleeping in short bursts. Heart rate above 90. Constricted airway. Coughing fits with occasional vomiting. Taking Amoxicillin, but I don't have any real symptoms of bacterial infection; no phlegm or excessive mucus, just slight throat spotting. At least today's tests seem to rule out an asthmatic or allergic reaction, just a nasty virus that's got me knocked flat on my tuchus, and me wondering what the hell I've done to my body to make my immune system hate me this way.

Jeez, Dan..... pester some Physician's Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, or even an MD into giving you some Phenergan with Codeine.
Phenergan (anti-nausea)
Codeine (anti-tussive)
It's cheap and [I'm a health care practitioner, don't try this without supervision..... or a hot-tub full of cheerleaders] mix about 2 teaspoonsful with Scotch, lemon, water and sugar for a great "hot toddy" to stop the vomiting and allow you to sleep semi-regularly.

ziffle: Bizarre. I've had tons of inbound email today.
topspin: I'd been avoiding alcohol because I didn't want to load my liver any more than absolutely necessary, but after the doctor's visit yesterday and those entries posted at midnight:30 did at least the scotch, sugar and lemon thing and slept moderately well.

Dan,
I second the Phenergan. Use to use it for the kids when they were really little and got entrenched in endless rounds of bad upper respiratory infections. It really helped them sleep at night -- and me too.
Take care of yourself!
