Update the next morning: It would be nice if the various broadband providers knew how to run a bloody network. My cablemodem at home was also having routing problems to different sites last night. And it's not like these are connection problems, it's that the morons running the routers for the "broad" (but shallow) band services are sending out the wrong routing info.
And they sure can't run mail servers to save their own lives.

I've been having similar problems here in El Paso, Texas as well. I suspect it's a systemwide problem.

If you have a problem reaching a site, try running a traceroute; I found it seemed to force the router's tables to readjust.

Apparently this one had to do with PacBell broadcasting a route that was 29 bits of network, rather than correctly aggregating it into a 24 bit route.

i work for sbc and i sit and tell morons how to install dsl all day. not that they are all morons, but the vast majority of them certainly are. the servers are always down, seemingly most often with ameritech customers and they seem to want to fix them with bubble gum. sorry had to put my 2 cents in about pacbell
