Dori asked about 1099ers getting rebate checks. This Chronicle article on rebate checks suggests that some of the distribution seems to be based on the last two digits of your Social Security number, and if those two digits are high your check won't arrive 'til September.

Aha! That explains why I got it right away; my last two digits are 00. :-)

Yeah, but I'm not just talking distribution here, I'm also talking about
letters. Neither one of us got one.
And while the last two digits of my SSN are 94, Tom's is 01.
So my question still holds: do any of you know someone with only 1099
income (no W2) who's received a letter or check?

I haven't got a letter yet either, and I had W2 income last year. The other thing I'm wondering is that since this is just a rebate of your witholdings, maybe those of us who didn't pay enough earlier in the year last year don't get it again this year?
