Man accidentally carries gun on flight

Whoopsie: Man accidentally leaves gun in briefcase, ends up handing it to flight attendant for safe-keeping. Yet I get hassled sooo[Wiki] often going through security. Oh yeah, profiling's doing us a lot of good.

This guy has a lot more faith in the benevolence of the authorities than I would have in similar circumstances. He got lucky - given some of the other things going on lately he could just as easily have been dragged off the plane in handcuffs and left in jail for a week or two while they decided what to do with him.

I'd have kept quiet, left the weapon where it was, carried it speedily out of the airport on the other end, and breathed a big sigh of relief.

Yep, alas, me too. I hate to show loyalty to a corporation, but perhaps the fact that it was a Southwest flight helps, I've always found their flight attendants to be several notches above the usual.

Besides, I'm a sucker for the Southwest[Wiki] approach to safety speeches...
