So if I said "In most places I've worked the sales staff has been ahead of engineering", would you interpret this as:
- A sardonic comment indicating that marketing's pursuit of new
products when they can't sell what they spec'd last year might
be worthy of some examination.
- A statement of praise for the various marketing departments
referenced.
Your answers will be graded and might even be published on Fucked Company, in an indirect way.

- Sales has shaken off the bounds of Marketing, and is selling a story that Sales is making up on-the-fly, leaving it to Engineering to clean up the mess, and affording Marketing the opportunity of standing on the sidelines shaking their heads.

As a geek working in Marketing, I can say that typically it's Marketing's job to completely pull the wool over everyone's eyes and make everything "A-OK". This involves:
1.) Trying to CYA, when Marketing finds out that another department has already implemented something that we were discussing.
2.) Who's losing the most amount of money and Marketing promptly jets into action, trying to promote the one who is making money.
3.) Have a meeting with the heads of sales, marketing, engineering and find out "What could we have done to make _________ better."
my answer would be "A".

Not only is it obviously A, I can't even imagine how someone could list B
as an answer. This makes me think that this is some "which community
of thought do you belong to" filter.
