So that suggestion for a "Mystery Science Theater 3k" style porn night has piqued some interest. One of my problems is that I'm not that familiar with film and video porn. Most of the recent stuff I've seen is far enough over the top to defy parody. Over on Mouthorgan there's a link to a brief history of Vivid Video which spawned some interesting discussion on the history of porn. So it seems like '70s porn is what could be interesting enough to be good, but cheesey enough to make fun of. Anyone got suggestions for movies suitable for real-time parody? Particularly egregious bits of Behind The Green Door or Deep Throat itching to be lampooned?

A boyfriend of mine in the seventies wanted to to see this; I went along. What I loved about it is that it was a porn version of Pygmalion!

Opening of Misty Beethoven (and if you count my friend Rose's list over in the mouthorgan thread, this is the third time it has been mentioned by name) is probably one of the better porn films - in terms of non-porn-watchability value - ever made. I am also partial to The Devil in Miss Jones (the title is literal - demonic possession makes a prim schoolmarm type start to do Naughty Things), but there I believe it's more for cheese value.
Actually I think the problem with most porn films - and this may have been where Dan was going - is that it's impossible to parody something which is already parody. I think the ultimate end product of this was in the late eighties when a crop of porn films came out which were very aware of their own silliness. My favorite is one called Debbie Duz Dishes (yes, it's a joke on Debbie Does Dallas), and its sequel, Blazing Mattresses. These films are comedies in their own right, although maybe not very good ones.
On the other hand, I probably would have a hard time making fun of Misty Beethoven because I actually find it interesting to watch on its own. I can't give something the MST3K treatment unless it fails to hold my attention as is.
