Alternative Flutterby APIs?

2002-02-03 06:42:48+00 by Dan Lyke 4 comments

I've got a bunch of code refactoring done, and I'm about ready to slap the Blogger API on Flutterby. Mark Hershberger had expressed an interest in using the Blogger API[Wiki] to do comments here. Obviously there's not a clean mapping across, so I was thinking of using the "blogid" parameter to reference a given entry, and use a special-case one for the main 'blog. Anyone out there who'd use such an API got an interest?

Oh yeah: SQL views rock.

I'm confused. Is this some posting/editing system that will be hosted by someone else? Or are you going to implement a specificly Flutterby version? The latter would be cool. The former leaves me with more questions...

Shawn, the Blogger API is just a method for communicating with a content management system. What Dan is implementing will allow people who are so inclined to write their own editor for communicating with Flutterby. It might even allow some existing utilities written to communicate with Blogger through this API to also communicate with Flutterby. Blogbuddy is one utility that I plan to see if I can adapt to work with Flutterby. So to answer your question it would be a specificly Flutterby version... more or less.

Thanks Larry. I just wasn't clear on whether Dan was saying "We'll be using this other guy's system - in place, as it exists." or "I'm gonna take this guy's app and set it up here at Flutterby."
