You undoubtedly know that Chuck Jones died. User Friendly has a good one-panel tribute to him.

I'm afraid that I'm going to have to show my ignorance and declare that I don't know who Chuck Jones is, much less that he died. I take it he had something to do with Warner Bros. cartoons?

Chuck Jones was part of the team that created the big Warner characters, Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Daffy Duck, Roadrunner and Coyote, and later moved over to MGM to do Tom and Jerry. One of the great animators.

Dan; okay, that explains it. I was never really a fan of second-generation (first-generation being "Steamboat Willie" and the like) cartoons. Bugs and Daffy were tolerable, Roadrunner was boring (same sh*t, different day) and Tom & Jerry were just plain stupid.
Ghasty; 31. The more relevent point, though, would be that I generally don't pay much attention to who makes visual-motion products that I like. I couldn't tell you who produced or directed my favorite movies, TV shows or videos - or even what studio they came from. That's just not my thing - although I've observed that I seem to be quite a minority in that regard. It's one of the reasons that I seem to remain on the outskirts of Anime fandom - although my passion for the art form is no less than the most ardent fanboy's.
