RIAA plays whack-a-mole

Ok, this one wasn't inspired by an RIAA lawsuit, but it seems that Morpheus switched from their proprietary protocol to Gnutella on Friday. The net result was that Gnutella's size increased three-fold in a matter of hours.

This happened because Morpheus got shut out of their former three-partner group that consisted of Kadzu (sp?) and another party that I can't remember. This other party was recently absorbed by Kadzu (who some believe owned it all along) and they released a new version of their software that was no longer compatible with Morpheus's stuff.

(Sorry for the vagueness. I don't do file-sharing systems, so I'm just relaying from memory a story I read a week or so back.)

Also, MusicCity apparently didn't pay bills (according to Kazaa)...haven't played with the new music city yet but sure I will
