Happy 8th Birthday - Thank You Dan!
On October 2nd (a Monday) in 1994
Chattanooga Online went online to the general public. It was born of idea's in Dan's, Debbie's and Mike's heads... and is still an internet company serving Chattanooga with much of the same vision.
As children go, this is one Dan should be proud of.

Meuon, let's give pioneering credit where pioneering credit is due. We were providing Usenet feeds and writing HTML in 1993.
Ziffle, while the nice thing about mind-fucks is that you can't catch anything, they do tend to spawn all these little ideas that run around and drain your resources for a few decades.

Aren't we suppose to reminisce on these days? Good. I remember walking into y'alls office to see if any of y'all wanted to go to lunch the day the T1 went live. The scene kind of reminded me of the old b&w Frankenstein movie with Dan bouncing around shouting, "It's alive, it's alive!" He was there by himself and had just gotten the first response from a ping seconds before I walked in the door.

I guess it was the day before that Aaron had helped us configure everything, because any of my changes to TCP/IP configurations actually working was pure chance. If I'd known then what I know now...
(If I'd known then what I know now, when Mike came in and said "I've ordered a T-1, but it's okay because we've got 90 days to pay the bill"...)
And credit to to Robert, who, in conjuction with Gonzo (I think), came over and got an Apple laptop talking to my BBS machine (a 386/25) via PPP and KA9Q, which it seems to me to have happened long before the Usenet via 9600 baud satellite downlink thing started.
