I haven't had a lot of spare time but A previous flutterby conversation piqued my interest in photography. I ended up getting the Cyber Shot F717. I guess I'm becoming a Sony zealot but this camera is slick.

The F717 has better color balance, i.e., less oversaturation of reds -- among other things. It's the first Sony I'd consider going for, even though it'd make all my current memory cards basically useless.

Jeff, reading the 122 page manual has helped but it will be sometime before I have some command of it's features(read: mucho manual features if you want them) but it's got awesome optics(carl zeiss glass) that seem to grab photons like a hoover after dust. I'll try to take something to post up.
Meuon, after seeing how much fun you were having, I was inspired to get one. I think feature set is pretty close but they moved some controls around (based on customer feedback) so you can make a lot of manual adjustments while shooting. The sales rep said they are programable so you can change what does what. I'm starting to like the jog dial in front of the shutter button but I have a long ways to go before using this thing right.

You are right about these things sucking photons, it was DARK out there, and yet shots like this one come through...If yours is better (dang camera {penis} envy) I want to see some freaking unreal pictures from you. Of course.. by the next burn.. There will be a better camera out.. :)
