Charlene is trying to find a gift for some kids she took care of. She was thinking something like a Krazy Kar, or a good pogo stick (which lead us to Jumping Jesus on a Pogo Stick (requires Java), but somewhere in there I discovered the rocket powered street luge. Another good reason Dan should not have kids.

So how old are these kids? If they're a bit older (like even, say, up to, say, age 48 or so... :-), I'd suggest maybe going for a micro RC car like a DigiQ... or maybe more than one. :-) A guy down the hall has 3 of them, and they've now popped up in 3 other offices, too. They look like little mice racing down the hall, and are surprisingly controllable and WAY FAST! They appear to be among the "hot toys" for the upcoming Conspicuous Consumption Season and are difficult to find in stores, brick-and-mortar or online, but every so often SigmaAutomotive gets a shipment, and I can highly recommend their customer service and speed of delivery. (And now I hope neither of my kids reads Flutterby before Christmas...)

These twins are younger than that, probably 6 or so now.

Did you see the image on the Deseret News article? It looks like he's using 24 fuse lit solid fuel rockets. It's good to know that in comparison to activities that I thought were gonzo this guy's a raving loon.
