So, how's the weather out there in California? This incredible space image, suggested by Instapundit and Jerry Pournelle, shows the fog over Central California on the morning of a 14-car pilup on the interstate. No Wonder.

Yep. That's why Charlene generally doesn't go visit her family in the winter, and if she does head that direction tries to schedule so she's driving in the less foggy times of day, and not on I5.
But damn that's an impressive picture.

That's an incredible RS image. It's now my desktop!
I'm going to be ordering the parts for my prototype kite aerial photography system. If it seems usable, I'll write a grant proposal this Spring to put together a larger system. Granted, I won't be able to get images of this scale, I'm hoping to be able to get up to 1000m.

Maybe I don't spend enough time looking at satellite pictures of weather (read: none) but I didn't think this pic was all that impressive. Just looks like a long cloud to me.
Or I guess it could also be my slim-to-little knowledge of California lay of the land.
