While moving servers in the back room.. looks like we jiggled the power cord on Flutterby. My apologies.

Okay, so I think I've got both sendmail and pop-before-smtp to a reasonable state come the next reboot, but the real pisser was that this pulled my attention away from the possibility that someone running an SMTP daemon on a Macintosh might actually be a clueless fsckwit and towards misconfiguration on my server.
Extensive testing this morning reveals that nope, Pacific Sun summarily drops any SMTP connection from the Flutterby server, but seems quite happy to accept mail sent via telnet pacificsun.com 25
from my home cablemodem IP address.
I've asked our contact there to smack the sysadmin, and I'd love to know how this server ended up on their blacklist (and the previous blacklist at Earthlink). I haven't had an open relay since back when those things were done, and I re-test to ensure that.

You are now 'bait' for the lower life forms on the 'net..(how many posts and hits does fre..mil..def.. get? and a great way to harrass a system is to post it to the RBL's.. especially as they do no checking. Think of it as a Denial of Service Attack. My apologies.

Sorry Sorry Sorry. I refrained from posted for about a week now. I will try to only use my powers for good now, well most of the time.
