Hooters alternatives

Apparently Hooters is coming to San Francisco. The discussion at work was somewhat incredulous, "isn't that the sort of thing they do in Fresno or Bakersfield or something?", somewhat mollified by the realization that this'll be up near Pier 39 and the gawdawful tourist district. But, of course, we quickly turned to establishments we'd like to see. I realized just how far I've come from my days in Chattanooga[Wiki] when Keevah's rooster themed "Peckers" idea was novel; the discussion started with drag queens in tight shirts and skimpy shorts and [cough] progressed [ahem] from there.

Rob Morse on the SF Hooters:

Tuesday dawned hot and bright in San Francisco, and you had to wonder why anyone would come here to visit a Hooters.

On Chestnut Street in the Marina, young women were weighed down more by cell phones than by clothing. This is San Francisco, of course: One of the few men who noticed was doing so as a paid, professional observer. Strictly for professional reasons, he also observed that there was an equal number of partially clad men jogging down Chestnut Street.

Even in the Marina, the least bohemian part of the city, bohemian rules of behavior apply.
