Aaaaaugh! One hour and thirty five minutes on a conference call. Even in my most mooning-over-someone talk-on-the-phone-all-evening modes I don't think I've been on the phone that long. And I probably only had to say about 50 words.

Mooning over someone.. talk all evening - I get fidgety after 10 minutes... with a headset on.. - I ABHOR social phone calls.. I'd rather drive 2 hrs and be face to face.. (and other things). Business calls that long.. well.. I'd usually rather not be face to face.. With a headset on and the mic muted I can get a lot of things done while 'listening in'.. On of my favorite conference calls was with another Flutterbarian where he was in Atlanta, I was in Chattanooga and we had lawyers and technical experts from Deloite and Touche in a conference call. We were IM'ing and E-Mailing some incredible stuff back and forth while listening to overzealous pontification of worthless extrapolations of insignificant data samples by technical 'experts' with miniscule technical skills and lawyers with nothing in their heads but.. "I'm billing for every minute of this schtuff"... and so was I... :) - Unfortunately, your call just kept you from being productive.

I'm sorry, just the phrase "technical experts from Deloitte and Touche" reduces me to hysterics.
Interesting post on /. today pointing to a New York Times article on "lecture hall back-channelling" reminds me that next time I must have a headset and an IM window in front of me.
