Hey, would someone out there with a blog tool that implements Trackback hit this entry, and if you've got an entry that I can hit for testing tell me that? Thanks!

The autodiscovery didn't work. I tried a manual ping to http://www.flutterby.com/archive/comments/6439.html -- that also failed.

Dan, shouldn't the tracback ping be pointed to your trackback script rather than this HTML file? Maybe even into your viewentry.cgi script.

Hm. The trackback URL in the source is:

Which is wrong; it should be:

http://www.flutterby.com/archives/comments/6439.html

As Larry notes. I get the same error that he does, btw.

Sigh. I think it'll be Wednesday before I can get to this, but yep, the ".html" address is a mod_rewrite redirect to /archives/viewentry.cgi?id=6439, and that means I need to manually parse the GET portion because CGI.pm is ignoring it in favor of the post.

Dan, I don't know if you ever did actually ping the entry listed in you edits on my blog but if you did it didn't show up. My ping back here worked fine.

Larry, you've got the exact same problem I did: Your trackback checker is not checking its command line for the trackback id information. It was only when I added the tb_id=Society_Weblogs_Flutterby_Is_Enabling_Trackback into the POST data that it got accepted. I don't see that in the spec, and I don't know of a good way to automatically derive it, so I'm gonna punt this one to you for the moment.

Well, that script was derived from Six Apart and modified to also work for local comments. I never have been satisfied with it so I guess it's time to implement Writeback for my comments and trackback data. That's something for me to do tomorrow I guess.
