Meuon is a homeowner. This is the view from every main room of the house.. and the deck.. and.. It's small, 1375sqft, and needs some work (like a new deck and steps.. and..). But it's mine. Now I have really set down roots in Chattanooga. After I get moved in, and some things cleaned up (nothing has touched the yard in a year), I'll be posting some good detailed pics. Ya'll are welcome. 1031 Lower Brow Road, Signal Mtn, call first if it's after dark.

Whoah. That's got some kickin' line of sight for wireless...

Comcast Pro is cheaper and better.. and point blank: Deb does not want me for a customer.

Oh yeah, but there's lots of other reasons to play with wireless. Or maybe you're just all played out.
I'll tell ya what, though, after this latest "we're going to change your IP without doing the right things to DHCP so you just have to intuit that you need to reboot your router" and some of the other service issues I get from Comcast, I'm severely tempted to switch to Speakeasy iDSL. Despite the speed hit.

Oh, that kind of wireless. There will be a small wireless network at the house.. behind a seperate firewall just in case in gets latched onto by a neighbor kid (even with WEP). Like you, I'll treat my inside nat'd network as 'hostile', if for no other reason than to keep my paranoid sysadmin/networking skills up. I'm looking forward to taking my big laptop on the deck, sipping my morning java, and watching the whole valley evolve into a new day. I slept there last night, and this morning was really kewl, even shrouded in fog. It's odd, but I feel at home there already, my mind quickly made that connotation. It likes it that much. This morning I packed up my guns from my apartment, the cute college girls next door freaked as they went to church and I'm loading up an arsenal into my truck. :) I love it when people ask what you hunt with guns (assault rifles, carbines) like that and I say "humans".
My current home network consists of 3 laptops (one is dual screen), a new dual head Linux system, and a couple of Linux junk servers, and my colo'd server at one of my former competitors. I've been working hard at relearning perl, DBI, and apache, adding MySQL and PostgreSQL and building up a consistent toolset for doing the things I like to do. I may add some PHP stuff for fun as well. Soon, I'll have a couple of websites that should show of some of these things..
"Played Out", quite the other way around. I came back from this years 'Burn WANTING to to do things that were impossible to do at COL in it's current form. I was either going to have to declare thermonuclear war and start over or take Deb's offer and start over myself. At the negotiating table with Deb and her lawyer I realized I only had two options, reach a mutually acceptable arrangement that allowed her what she wanted and the guys at COL to keep their jobs, or I was going to have to walk in the door at COL and fire everyone and start again. I'd done it before, I know it's possible, but I would have also had a fight reaching "MAD" (Mutually Assured Destruction) status with Deb. Letting things get that weird at COL was my fault for letting it get that bad in the first place. All I can do is wish them luck, and I honestly do.
Since leaving COL, I've done 3 small paying projects for others, and have a couple of more possibilities up. After I get moved in and back from the Mexpidition I'll be actively marketing and working on building up a real business again. I was waiting until I had a permanent address to get legal (licenses, tax #'s and such) and bill people for the projects.
I've also got some personal projects that could create recurring revenue again,
but I want to code them properly with lots of testing before putting
them into production.

Just got a private e-mail telling me I was crazy for posting an address and hardware inventory, so let me assure you (as Topspin noted when helping me move),
it has a monitored alarm system, nosey old folk retired neighbors, and an owner that does not call the cops first (some things you learn in the 'hood).

Security?... not an issue. Post a pic of the arsenal. Some things and the alarm system should discourage even the most stupid. If not, the abundance of tile in the house provides easier clean-up of blood than carpet.
Meuon's new digs are nothing short of amazing. A great spot to hole up, code, dance in the great room, and light a coupla candles with someone special in the bedroom. Everything meuon loves and deserves! Congratulations and enjoy!
There's another home for sale just a few doors down, if someone wants to be his neighbor.

Giggle. I know the neighborhood the virtual building was in. I know how security conscious Meuon was when he came out here to visit, in this town where I routinely leave my bike unlocked on my front steps. I know how well armed Meuon is.
Hell, I'd like to see schematics of the alarm system posted online just for the amusement value, although I'd imagine the clean-up would be a hassle after the first few semi-assisted Darwinations.
