I prefer the one with HTML encoding and long entries (although the underscored-followed-by-the-link-in-parens style isn't getting parsed). But then I don't grok the first point from your blog dinner. E-mail? How so?
I understand that I so don't fit the "standard" blogger mold, but I use/prefer RSS because it lets me avoid the overhead of an entire web page - because it does let me read and follow more pages than I otherwise could. (Although 5,000 is way outside that range.) Basically, because it's a step closer to newsgroups.

Two things about your RSS feed that I would like to see improved. It seems like the entries on the long version always appear as a single paragraph. It would also be nice if there was an entry for the author in your feed since there are multiple authors possible on Flutterby.
You might want to look at the Atom 0.3 spec for an alternate method of syndication.

Identification of authors, please! That's the one thing that I'd really like.
One other quibble, if it's possible: take a look at, for example, yesterday's SCO post. The link in that entry is clickable, but in the RSS feed it isn't. If there's a straightforward way to add that, it'd be great.
Oh yeah, paragraphs (as mentioned previously) would be nice, too.

I haven't been using the feed (Flutterby's the only site that I've been actually loading in a browser, but I'm thinking about going back to RSS for that too), so my perspective was from just having tossed it into my aggregator. I concur with the other desired features mentioned here.

Just fixed a big bug and cleaned up the attribution stuff. Hopefully everyone will be happier now.
