Hey, Bill: Baja Fresh is Wendy's and Chipotle is McDonalds. Just from the basic economics of food quality, notably that while a large company can impose standards on their suppliers, they can't pick and choose quality from individual lots, and that they can't optimize their menu to what's best on the current market, it stands to reason that your local taqueria has better food.

Despite my recent spate of puppies-for-protein posts, what makes me appreciate Baja Fresh is that everything lacking actual meat is explicitly vegetarian. Which is nice.

Taqueria or any decent 'real' restaraunt:
Today at "The Market" (a local meat and 2 for under $5.00 lunch place)
where I am a regular... I walk in and just ask: What looks good..
Today she said "Chicken and Dumplings" - Which I usually shy away from.
Yummy. Best I had had in a while. - Next week.. even though those may be on the menu next Thursday.. that might not be the 'Good dish' of the day.
I expect daily variations in food at real restaurants, and my rule typically is: One of the specials of the day is usually a good choice.
When they have good 'maters (tomatoes) I get told so.. and have a BLT with Xtra 'maters.. Yummy. Reasons to support and become a regular at the local "Mom and Pop" eatery.
Every walked into a McDonalds and had a guy at the counter tell you:
The Quarter Pounders are extra yummy today, but the fry grease is
a little old? Thought not.

Very true, but I blogged Rio Adobe in hopes folks know there's an alternative to Chipotle and Baja Fresh (both of whom have locations by Apple.)

We've been eating regularly at Rio Adobe and would second your nod.
