Anyone who's been in computing a while knows that the participation of the fairer sex is often a topic of conversation. But today, when Dave Winer asked "How To Get More Women", the only thing I could think of was:
"In this country, you gotta make the money first. Then when you get the money, you get
the power. Then when you get the power, then you get the women."
— the character "Tony Montana" in Scarface

Dori's problem may be in presentation.
Perhaps if someone would record "Baby's Got Mac" it would help
I like a woman with Mac I can't lie
There's something 'bout a Powerbook you can't deny
in the hands of lady
playin' Slim Shady
swaying to her iPod
movin' her bod
I gotta get behind her
and grind her
try her Finder
When it gets dark
she heats up Quark
her kerning got me yearning
for woman whose SuperDrive is burning
me up
I'm goin' down and around
the curves of her Apple
are the best in town
I want her iLife in my life
its like a hot knife
when she fires up her Tiger
I wanna feel her claws
I wanna hear her growl
I wanna break some laws
I see her OS triple X
she likes to be wet
running that Aqua
makin' me sweat
Be my consort
bring your AirPort
up to my fort
we'll see what you got
there's something 'bout your Appletalk
making me too hot
Lemme grab your Dashboard
Oh Lord... scatter all your widgets
all around your desktop
then flop
with you in your interface
your place
boys forget XP
she's got ecstasy
go on Safari
when a baby's got Mac
you won't be sorry
Baby's got Mac
Or perhaps I'm just delirious from lack of sleep.......

I can think of no other personality who needs the influence of a woman than Dave Winer. Unfortunately for him, most women have more sense than to hang around such a vain, self-centered, self-aggrandizing pompous ass.
Here is an idea: get out of the freaking office for a change. Do something that doesn't center around yourself. Don't expect everyone to drop everything in their life just to join your entourage of sycophants.
It would be a good thing for women to proportional representation in the tech industry, but they don't need handouts from you, particularly to serve as some kind of pick-and-choose resevoir of people who have not yet chosen to reject you.

To me, the interesting thing is that so many people agree
that Dave Winer sometimes acts like a pompous, arrogrant
ass and ticks them off, and simultaneously they seem to find his
blogging good enough in some respects that they read it anyway. :-)
I'm *not* saying it's a contradiction, just that it's interesting IMHO.
