Serendipitously, last week I had 10 inches of my mane clipped to donate it to Locks of Love, which gets the hair on the heads of kids with alopecia, not cancer as many folks think.

I accepted the challenge from a beautiful, but lethal 8yo when she donated her hair last year and I needed to finally make good on that promise.

There's no "cropped" pics of me yet, but don't worry Diane, there's still a bit of ponytail left and it'll grow back.

No wonder I was thinking about you last week!

My 16yo is thinking about L of L whenever he decides to cut his massively thick, glossy, straight, gorgeous mane. Which I hope is not while he's still living in my house, it would make me cry. (He has 2 inches or so trimmed every few months so it doesn't look unkempt. He'd already be sitting on it if he didn't do that.) The 19yo says he isn't ever going to cut his poofy fluffy hair again. Wonder how long that resolve will hold. I think it's been 3 years now, maybe 4; maybe he's serious.

I had long hair (long enough to sit on) until I was 11, and my mom convinced me to get it cut. I loved it, she didn't.

To date, I've never had it shorter than shoulder-length, and have never thought about cutting it -- except for once, when I ran into a LoL haircutting benefit. I didn't do it that day, but I might if I run into them again.
