Read about AOL giving away the search requests for millions of requests, and downloaded a sample. O boy - 500 MB of compressed searches. Who knew? Is this the end of privacy - I think so.
Upon decompressing a sample, I looked for - drum roll - 'flutterby' and here is what we found buoys and gulls.
The flutterby.com at the end of the line means they clicked on the flutterby link. What suprises me is the muffinmonster and albino deer pics - flutterby does have some weirdos!

Here's the albino deer pic (From out at Point Reyes, where there are herds of them. even if that does look like a trick of the light), and the 1,430-lbs./HP peak power Muffin Monster that can probably shred a whole cow carcass without slowing down should one find its way into your sewage system was mentioned here.
I do remember the nude gymnasts (have that DVD around here somewhere), but we've no free pictures of underage Lolitas. And I'm not sure what a "20stories" is, especially in the context of masturbation. Oh, wait, I see that random "20" in another place, that's probably an artifact of quoted printable encoding...

I'm not sure how this signifies "the end of privacy" as it doesn't seem to have any way to identify who did the search. What it does is give web site developers a way to see how AOL's search is directing people to their own site.
Further, if you think anything you do on the internet is "private" then you are sorely mistaken. Unless the connection between your machine and the server it's talking to is encrypted, then all of the content is voiced openly and publicly. And if the server you are connected to does not directly state a privacy policy, then the site owner has as much right as you to use the information exchanged as they please - including posting it anywhere they like.

I believe that there are several places where reporters have managed to track the searcher back to a specific person, mostly by looking for "vanity searches" and working backwards.
