Wow! What do you do when your party's leading figure is so mired in controversy and incompetence that you know he's going to drag down the 2008 elections? Chuck Hagel (R-NE) mentions impeachment as an option. I guess the Republicans figure that if Dubya's in office next year he'll drag the whole party down.

At last! At last someone who, on the surface, appears to have the kahoonas actually to stand up to these immoral, incompetent, morons in Washington!
New Leadership, just maybe?

I don't think so, because he's still in the "some people might...". He's just running up trial balloons, fun to watch, but no real indication of character there.

I can fully understand people reading this and applauding Sen. Hagel, but I don't trust him either.

I agree that his most recent statement was a bit sublime. But if you look at Hagel's past, he has been one of the most outspoken critics of Bush and the Iraq war. This is not just a "one-shot across the bow" remark from him.

Politicians are quite astounding, aren't they. As I read each of the comments, my thought was, "Absolutely right." A high ranking member of the Republican Party mentioning the "I" word, yes; but, he MAY BE running for president, so a "running up a trial balloon" makes sense; but, then again, how can you "trust" a guy who has come down on the side of that sociopathic SOB as many times as, if not more than, anyone in congress. It seems to me that any sane human being who has experienced combat would criticize how these lying pieces of worm excriment have handled a war we never should have commenced. And while I'm on the side of anybody who calls for (or MIGHT BE calling for) the impeachment of Tweedle-Dim (AND Tweedle-Scum), I don't subscribe to "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" philosophy (on edit: I don't consider Hagel an "enemy" of mine or the US the way some of the Reptilicons consider anti-war, anti-bush people an enemy.) Just a cursory look at Hagel's voting record is enough to stop a charging elephant in his tracks.
But the more congress does its due diligence and, without equivocation, investigates the crimes of this regime, the likelihood of impeachment will "surge."
