Among other things, RIP was a standard for graphics developed back in the BBS days that had a short carry-over into the Internet until HTML shut it down. It set up a terminal that had various font and vector graphics capabilities, and Dan Lyke even wrote Hyper, an HTML browser that ran under TBBS and TDBS and, as one of its interaction options, allowed mousing and rendering with RIP.
