Downstream on the left in the river you'll notice a large rock, commonly called "Jump Rock" or "John and Sue's". Ocoee Outdoors (and others in late afternoon) trips use this to give their customers a taste of the eddy line. Jumping off the river right side towards the front pulls you down along the eddy line and back into the eddy.

One of the two deaths on the Ocoee happened here, best anybody can figure out a guy on uppers of some sort (probably cocaine) jumped into the river to do the swim thing and had a heart-attack. Family refused an autopsy, so cause of death is a conjecture. Moral: Don't do that.

Note the extreme eddies on both sides, especially the flat protruding rock on river right which makes a great raft dump site. Watch your ankles, 'cause there's a whole lot of gaps in the rocks.

Putting in here also makes a slightly longer run than putting in at Goforth Creek without adding the really hairy stuff.

I love to hear from my readers, but I get a lot of mail. If you're writing to set up a rafting or other outdoor adventure trip in the southeast Tennessee area, contact the folks at OAR , my favorite outfitters.
